I was lucky enough to be selected in the lottery last year and had an enjoyable half. Met up with the HRG support van parked at the finish. Enjoyed mini donuts and beer for recovery food so not a bad morning!! One of the benefits of running the half is you actually get to see the top runners finish the full marathon - a first for me. Bottom line, if you are not up to a full marathon, the half is a great option. Registration/lottery info is below.
Registration for the 2009 Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon lottery begins Wednesday, February 18 and continues through 8:00 a.m. (CST) on Monday, March 2. You can submit your registration any time during the 12-day registration period by logging onto www.GrandmasMarathon.com and completing the online registration form .
Beginning at 8:01 a.m. on March 2, 4,500 participants will be randomly selected. By March 5th, you will receive an email stating whether or not you were selected in the lottery. The 19th annual Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon is Saturday, June 20, at 6:30 a.m., and is run on the second half of the Grandma’s Marathon course.
