Pre Grandma's Update

While we need the rain, its getting a bit old.  Particularly when I've been rained on the last two outings.  Last Saturday's final long run of 20.4 miles hampered by the constant drizzle and chilly temps for early June.  Both Pat and I finished our outing and headed for warm beverages at the coffee shop.

On Sunday, our Triathlon coach "Spin Doctor" Fritz, successfully completed the Buffalo Tri in under 3 hours.  Not bad for a first outing and another cold and damp day.

This past Monday marked the beginning of the MNTriMasters swimming class at the Richfield pool.  Wow, what a difference to swim outside in a 50 meter pool.  Again, the weather was unseasonably cool with overcast skies and air temps in the low 50s.  BRRRR.  The water temp was a cool 72 degrees.  I was able to complete about 600 meters before getting chilled and heading for the hot showers - not bad for a Tri-Newbie.

Tapering is the word of the day as those of us running Grandma's are now scaling down our mileage and keeping loose.  Shorter runs, swimming and biking are all good ways to keep a nice easy base going and allow some of the minor aches and pains to heal before the big day.
