2009 Chisago Lakes Triathlon

Congratulations to all the HRG runners who ventured beyond the sport of running to enter the multi sport world of the triathlon. Jennie, Pat, James and myself completed our first Tri event with excellent times for a first outing. Our adventure began with a 4:00am wake-up and 4:30 bike loading for the 55 minute drive up to Chisago City. Pictured at right are Fritz (Spin Doctor and Tri Coach), Jennie, Bryan and Pat shortly after getting settled in the transition area.

It was a perfect day, with 74 degree water temps and a slight breeze from the north. The 1/4 mile swim portion went well for all and the 21 mile bike and 5k run splits were also good. Us newbies need a bit of practice in the transition area - especially me with rapid wetsuit removal. The photo at left shows me (Bryan) in blue crossing the finish line just seconds before Pat in the yellow Road Kill jersey with Jennie close behind. Of course Fritz had finished long before us and was a able to snap a few photos at the finish.

I'm hooked and ready for another one. Just need a bit more coaching to get to the 1/2 mile swim mark. Enjoy a few more photos from a great day!
